The author was educated in Sidcup, Kent; at Exeter College, Oxford and Exeter University, but feels that when he stops learning things he knows he will be dead!
Though he spent most of his life as a teacher, lecturer and trainer of Maths and Computing, he has had a lifelong interest in History, particularly of the 17th Century, especially the years 1640-1660, Science and Mathematics of the period and the formation of the Royal Society.
He has pursued his studies of this period mainly through reading, but also through talks and courses, mainly with the Universities of Oxford and Exeter, where he now lives.
